Sports Pitches and Pavilion Proposals on The Common

Drop-in Event Held to Discuss Sports Pitches and Pavilion Proposals on The Common

A drop-in event for the community was held last night (4 July 2018) to enable residents to view planned proposals for sports pitch provision on The Common at Tadpole Garden Village.

Hosted by representatives of Crest Strategic Projects (CSP), the session was extremely well-attended and detailed discussions allowed residents to ask questions and voice concerns about the proposals.

Visitors were able to view plans for the setting out of sports pitches on the common and for the construction of an associated pavilion with parking on the Western Common.  A pros and cons sheet enabled people to leave comments about the proposals, which are being collated and will be used to inform a review of the designs.

As a result of the scale of representations and comments received from the community, CSP has taken the decision to withdraw both planning applications for the sports facilities on the Western Common and Eastern Common (application references S/RES/1022 and S/18/1038).  All comments already received by the Local Planning Authority and also those submitted directly to Crest, will be collated and considered as part of our ongoing review of the proposals.  The plans will remain available to view on Swindon Borough Council’s website via http://pa1.swindon.gov.uk/publicaccess/, using the application reference number to search.  If you were not able to make comments last night, or if you have any further thoughts, CSP would welcome them by email to tadpole@crestnicholson.com or by post to:

It is our intention to now convene a Steering Group relating to the provision of sports facilities as a means by which to engage the Tadpole community in a review of the design and delivery of the sports provision.  If you are interested in being part of that Steering Group, please contact your Community Mobiliser, Chris Tanner, on chris.tanner@preim.co.uk.

CSP, working with the Steering Group, will now review the proposals over the coming weeks.  Revised proposals will be the subject of a formal community consultation event to be organised in due course, which will be advertised here on the Tadpole community website.

CSP remains committed to delivering a high quality development with equally high quality sports provision to support the health and wellbeing of the growing community.  We look forward to receiving the input and ideas of the community to ensure this facility is an asset the whole community can be proud of.
