TGV to support Great British Spring Clean

February 19, 2020

  • Tadpole Garden Village to help clean up as part of country’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign
  • Event follows similar effort by residents in April 2019
  • TGV in Bloom group and Preim to support the initiative
  • Event to take place on Saturday 28th March (9am)

TADPOLE Garden Village will be getting behind this year’s Great British Spring Clean, run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, with a clean up event on Saturday 28th March.

The campaign, which runs from March 20th to April 13th, will see up to 600,000 people taking action to clean up streets, parks and beaches across the country.

The Great British Spring Clean, run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, brings together individuals, community organisations, businesses and councils to show they love where they live and in 2019 more than half a million #LitterHeroes collected more than 900,000 bags of rubbish.

Last year, a group of residents – led by Community Interest Company committee member Tim Harris – gathered in early April to support the Keep Britain Tidy initiative by collecting around 20 bags of litter.

Keep Britain Tidy Chief Executive Allison Ogden-Newton OBE said: “The overwhelming response to last year’s Great British Spring Clean showed that there are many thousands of people out there who love where they live and are prepared to take action to make it better for themselves, their families and their communities.

“It is groups like Tadpole Garden Village who are leading the action in communities up and down the country and making a huge difference, not just during this campaign but all year round.
“We would like to thank them for their support and encourage as many people as possible to support them and join them in taking action.”

Pete Welsh, founder of the TGV in Bloom group, added: “As part of our regular monthly gardening club meets, we conduct litter picks around different areas of the village to do our little bit to help keep the community in which we live looking neat and tidy. TGV is a lovely environment in which to live, and we take pride in being able to help keep it that way.”

Tadpole Garden Village residents are invited to take part in the 2020 event on Saturday 28th March, meeting at the allotments at TGV. A limited number of pickers will be provided, so please bring gloves, pickers and suitable clothing.
