Traffic Calming Initiatives
February 12, 2020
CREST Nicholson Strategic (CSP) have provided an update following feedback and enquiries from TGV residents regarding traffic calming and speed monitoring.
Members of the CSP team attended Monday night’s Tadpole Garden Village Community Interest Company (TGVCIC) committee meeting, where they were joined by Steven Sanders, Highway Agreement Manager at Swindon Borough Council.
A lengthy, open discussion was held regarding future initiatives to monitor traffic and vehicle speed – with CSP agreeing to undertake a two-week long automatic speed survey beginning in March. This will see detector tubes placed at three locations in the Village, providing a series of useful information such as traffic volume information and average speed.
The results of this speed survey will be discussed at the April TGVCIC meeting. The trial of temporary zebra crossings at key locations across the Village, have also been discussed pending the results of the speed survey.
Swindon Borough Council have reiterated the planning requirement and design of a 30mph limit across the main TGV roads, whilst it is anticipated the side roads will naturally adopt a lower traffic speed.
